THE EMBROIDERY

I was a teenager during the Hippie era.  The flowing, rhythmic freedom of the music and clothing offered me a joy in life that was not possible within the evangelical environment of my childhood.  I started embroidering and have never stopped. My technique has evolved through the decades.  I studied crazy quilts, embroidered samplers, nomadic tribal embroidery, and visited an embroidery studio in North Viet Nam.  Drawing and painting are essential skills that I have found to be the precursors to the finer art of embroidery.
